d2p's KleverBook® App
The KleverBook® app (patent pending) allows registered users free access to eBooks listed on d2p's catalog. In exchange for free access, however, the reviewed reading schedule includes required ads at chapter endings or every 20 reading pages, according to the whole-book model. Ad duration depends on the approved advertisement. The revenue generated from KleverBook® ads is then shared with that eBook's author/publisher, which enables the reader free access.
Authors and publishers seeking to participate in d2p's KleverBook® program need only click the Join tab below. This will take them to the submission page where they can register and upload their book.
Once registered with C5M, authors and publishers are redirected to d2p's website, where they sign up, create their custom page, and then upload a digital copy of each book they seek to submit for the KleverBook®program.
Each eBook is then modified through KleverBook® software to insert Ad Slots.
An Ad Slot interrupts the eBook's text to insert (or remove) a Chapter Ad.
A Chapter Ad is a static or video advertisement that will appear at the end of each chapter when all chapters are at most 20 pages. If any chapter is longer, ads appear every 20 reading pages throughout the book instead.
Required Chapter Ads must complete before reading can continue past the ad boundary. Duration depends on the approved advertisement.
Ad completion and reading progress are recorded for the reading session.
Reading activity alone does not establish a payable ad royalty.
Ad Slots are permanent, whereas Chapter Ads are not.
All Chapter Ads have a hyperlink, which, when activated by the reader, lands them on the catalog page of the Retailer (whose ad is showing), unless the ad is from an Industrial brand (such as GEICO, Spirit Airlines, or political campaigns), in which case a link to that entities' website is provided.
The reviewed reading copy uses one model for the whole book: chapter endings if all chapters are at most 20 pages, or every 20 reading pages if any chapter is longer. Front matter and excluded back matter are outside the reading range.
Each modified eBook is then cataloged on d2p's site according to the author, title, and category (in alphabetical order).
Visitors to d2p's site can shop and purchase eBooks from its catalog, or they can download the KleverBook® app and read select eBooks for free, but only online.
Once an eBook has been selected for reading on the KleverBook® app, our software instantly loads Chapter Ads in that book's Ad slots.
Chapter Ads come from C5M's Ad Module—a database where ads are stored for automated retrieval each time a KleverBook® is selected.
Chapter Ads are placed in C5M's Ad Module in the order that they will be inserted in the Ad Slots (i.e., by bid amount/Ad Level or time and date logged into the system (see Ad Pricing Schedule below).
Once the Chapter Ads are installed, the book is uploaded through the KleverBook® app onto the reader's device for online access.
Because KleverBook® can only be read online, Chapter Ads can be removed, updated, or rotated.
Readers who activate hyperlinks to Retailers' catalogs and Industry-brand websites can return to their eBook page anytime.
Readers can purchase items through the KleverBook® app.
Ordinary d2p digital book sales have an 8% commission plus 2.9% and US$0.30 processing. Eligible eMoney sales have a 6% commission with the processing deduction waived. External retailers set their own transaction terms.
KleverBook® participation is optional and does not itself qualify an author for eMoney rates. The proposed chapter-ad revenue share requires an accepted royalty schedule and verified advertiser receipts before royalties become payable. Recorded ad activity alone is not a payable balance.
Reading access follows the expiration shown for the individual book; the default access period is 60 days.
Eligible digital-sale balances are processed monthly once they reach US$50, with smaller balances carried forward. Payouts also require approved author participation and payout setup. Ad royalties remain subject to verified receipts and an accepted royalty schedule.
Participation does not guarantee that a book will be downloaded or read, that every Ad Slot will receive a paid ad, or that an author will earn a particular amount. If a reader stops reading, later Chapter Ads are not viewed and cannot generate reader activity for that session.
